Our Roots

Triumph Through Tragedy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting inner-city youth whose lives have been affected by tragic gun violence. Through comprehensive awareness initiatives and compassionate outreach programs, we strive to create a safer environment and offer a healing space for those impacted by such incidents.

Since our founding in 2011, in honor of the life of Brandon Lamar Seals Sr., Triumph Through Tragedy's mission is to foster resilience, advocate for change, and provide resources that enable these young individuals to rebuild their lives and pursue a brighter future; free from the shadow of violence. Together, we envision a community where every child can grow, thrive, and fulfill their potential, knowing they are valued and protected.

Within the last Decade, Lancaster City has been plagued with the deaths of young individuals who have
not even had the chance to live past 25 years old. In 2022 alone, Lancaster County has been impacted by eleven people reportedly shot with six of those shootings leading to death, one death including an
infant. The nonprofit Gun Violence Archive reported that Pennsylvania had 924 shooting fatalities and
2,289 nonfatal shooting victims in 2022 an increase from 2021. In 2022, it was stated that gun violence is
now the leading cause of death for children and teenagers, more than car crashes or any kind of injury.

Our aim is to provide these young people with the necessary tools for success; through workshops, seminars, college tours, scholarship and mentor programs.
